The module is designed to help students understand the theoretical and practical underpinnings in Managing Rural Development within a Public Administration paradigm. In particular, the primary objective of the module is to critically analyse and evaluate challenges impacting on rural development in a national, regional and international context. To this end, students will be exposed to concepts and operational aspects within a theoretical and critical framework of managing rural development.
Furthermore, the module focuses on inter-alia strategies and practices underpinning rural development; the legislative and policy frameworks; institutional setup and inter/intra-governmental relations; the roles and responsibilities of multi-stakeholder partnerships and critical research strategies to understanding and solving rural challenges.
