This course is designed to expose students to early thoughts that led to the development of anthropological theory. There is a rich and significant history to the rise of theories in Anthropology. The module therefore, focuses on Anthropological theory in three phases and is taught in 2 sections. They include historical context, going back to the 19th century and followed by the theoretical changes and developments at mid-twentieth century. Collectively, these theories have a direct influence on contemporary discourses and developments in theory globally. The readings of this module aim to assist you in understanding the relevance of anthropological theories in their historical past, and their contribution to present-day anthropological studies and its implementation
